From January 20, 2027, Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 replaces the existing framework for machinery and introduces increased requirements for product safety, technical documentation, risk assessment, CE marking, digital instructions, software, automation, and AI-enabled machinery. Of particular importance is the concept of assemblies of machinery, i.e., production lines where machines, conveyors, robots, safety fencing, PLCs, and emergency stops operate as a single unit.
This change concerns manufacturers, importers, distributors, as well as businesses that interconnect or integrate machinery into their production lines.
Compliance doesn’t start in 2027. It starts today!
Every new product, substantial modification, change in PLC/robot/layout, or integration of software and AI can create new regulatory obligations.
